Amber was born in Templeton, California, and is a life-long resident of San Luis Obispo North County. Amber was raised in Atascadero. She and her husband, Frank, and son, Logan, moved to Paso Robles where they now reside. She is a graduate of Atascadero High School and attended Cuesta College.
Gymnastics Experience: Coached floor gymnastics for her cheer teams for the last 10 years. Coached recreational classes for 2 years and Team Gymnastics for 1 year.
Cheer Experience: Amber fell in love with the sport of cheer at the age of 8 when she signed up for a youth cheerleading program. She went on to cheer all four years in high school and was captain of the team for three of those years. After graduating, Amber was the Head Coach of the cheerleading program at North County Christian School (1997-1998), Assistant Coach at Templeton High School for two years (1998-2000), Head Coach of Atascadero High School for four years (2000-2004), and Assistant Coach at Templeton High School (2004-2006). While head coach at Atascadero High School, she and her coaching staff lead the team to take fifth place at West Coast Championships out of 15 teams. The next year, her team took first place out of 19 teams! She then was the assistant coach at Templeton High School (2004-2006) where she, along with other great coaching staff, took two teams to Nationals! She decided to 'Keep the Dream Alive' by opening her very own gym and start her own all-star team. Her senior team hit the ground running by competing at the second-highest level category in all-star cheer. Though this team only had 4 months to work until competition, they were able to nail the hardest stunts allowed in Level 4!
Qualifications: CPR/First Aid Certified, AACCA Certified,currently undergoing USASF certification, taught aerobics for 2 years, choreographed and danced in Action House, a dance, drama, and music ministry in her church during her high school years.
Favorite thing about Cheer/Gymnastics: "That cheer is athleticism combined with the arts"
Favorite Hobbies: Cheer, dance, play tennis, hang out with my husband of whom I have been married to for 10 years and was my high school sweet heart! We have a funny and gorgeous little boy named Logan and he is the best little guy in the whole world! I love nice cars and trips to fun places. Like Las Vegas, Disneyland, and Hawaii.
Food and Movies: My favorite food is mashed potatoes and gravy! My favorite movies are Legends of the Fall, Remember the Titans, Steel Magnolias, and The Shawshank Redemption. Those are just a few!
Matthew Brian
Name: Matthew Brian

Position: Gymnastics Coach/Senior Shockwaves Assistant Coach
Qualifications: Leadership in High School/ Choreographed/ Worked in Pre-school, CPR/First Aid Certified, AACCA certified,currently undergoing USASF certification USAG Professional Member certified. I've had much experience in leadership positions. My teaching background began with volunteering and helping out with kids at a charter school in Paso Robles. After that, I moved into a full-time position working in program for the developmentally disabled. I have trained with Coach Charlotte and instructed tumbling during the ‘06-'07 Shockwaves season. Recreational gymnastics coach for 3 years, Boys and Girls Pre Team Coach for 2 years, Team Gymnastics coach for 2 seasons coaching USAG Levels 4-6 with my team girls qualifying for Regionals in only their 2nd year!
Favorite Thing about Gymnastics: It is impressive to watch both the grace, strength, and skill required from any gymnast.
Goal for your team: My number one goal with every student is to develop proper technique.
Your background (place of birth, went to school, etc): I was born in Santa Barbara, and grew up in Solvang/Santa Ynez. From there my family moved to Stockton for a few years and finally to Atascadero. I'm a student of the University of Phoenix and currently earning my degree in Computer Engineering. I will be married to Coach Laura Andersen on December 6th, 2009!
Favorite Hobbies, Food, and Movies: Skim boarding on the beach, playing video games, and gymnastics would be the three things that I enjoy. Like most college kids, pizza is my number one choice for dinner (and sometimes breakfast too), burritos from Tortilla Town or Taco de Mexico, and I also like Hot Tamales (the candy).
Laura Andersen Brian
Name: Laura Andersen
Age: 22
Position: Assistant Coach of Senior Team, Girls Pre-Team Coach, Recreational Gymnastics Coach, Gold Rush Team Gymnastics Coach Levels 4-6
Experience: Laura has been cheering since her older sister, Amber, was a cheerleader in high school. Laura played basketball, volleyball, and other sports until she was in 5th grade when she joined a youth cheer team. It was in high school that Laura fell in love with the sport. It was also during her freshman year that she fell in love with gymnastics. Under the watchful eye and training of Coach Charlotte, Laura worked diligently to accomplish floor tumbling and found another love ... gymnastics! Leadership in High School, Choreographed, CPR/First Aid Certified, AACCA certified,currently undergoing USASF certification, USAG Professional Member certified. Laura made the JV cheer team her freshmen year and the Varsity Team at Atascadero High School her sophomore year! There, under the direction of Coach Amber and her coaching staff, her team competed at West Coast Championship. Their first year, they placed 5th out of 14 teams. The following year, they placed 1st out of 19 teams! She then transferred to Templeton High School. There, her team, under the direction of Coach Kristin and Coach Amber, went to Nationals both years! Laura was a UCA All-Star both her junior and senior years. During her senior year, she tried out for UCA staff and made the UCA hiring list! Laura then cheered at the collegiate level for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on their Stunt Team. When she had the opportunity to cheer for an all-star team, she cheered for the Shockwaves and also helped coach the Junior Shockwaves team.

I'm a student in my 4th year at Cal Poly State University and currently earning my degree in Liberal Studies. I have started my student teaching and will be entering the Credential Program next year! Favorite Thing about Gymnastics/Cheer: "You are never, ever done! Even olympic gymnasts are never done. There's always a bigger, better skill to perfect."
Favorite Hobbies: Cheer, gymnastics, playing video games, skimboarding, swimming (especially in the ocean), hanging out with Matt, and hanging out with friends.

Things that qualify you (Leadership in High School/ Choreographed/ Worked in Pre-school, etc: Coached at Atascadero High school where I helped coach a competition team to first place at the West Coach championships in 2004, volunteer coached at Templeton High School, coached gymnastics in Atascadero School of Gymnastics during high school for two years. Coached gymnastics at Gymcats in Las Vegas NV for one year. Also competed in NCAA DIV I polevaulting for four years. Hold UNLV school records for polevaulting. CPR/First Aid (adult/child) certified, AACCA certified,currently undergoing USASF certification.
Favorite Thing about Cheer/Dance/Gymnastics: It combines so many things that I love: competition, gymnastics, and a little craziness.
Goal for your team: To at the end of the competition year, perform a routine that would have seemed impossible at the beginning of the year and see how far the entire team came.

Favorite Hobbies, Food, and Movies: I think coaching cheer and gymnastics is my hobby. Other than that, I have a catering company and a restaurant in Atascadero. I love food. I especially love risotto, sushi, mexican food, taco bell, lots of cheeses, and spinach salads. I love old movies, muscials...etc. Pride and Prejudice, Gone with the Wind, My Fair Lady and a lot of the chick flicks.

Where you were born, went to high school, and college: I was born in Visalia and moved to Atascadero when i was two. I am currently attending my last year at Templeton High school. Upon graduation, I hope to pursue a degree in Molecular Biology and go on to be a forensic serologist.
Favorite Hobbies, Food, and Movies: Dance and Cheer are my favorite things. Besides those, i also enjoy singing, swimming, gymnastics, reading, and going to my youth group. My favorite foods are pizza, strawberries, orange chicken, and gummi bears, I love all kinds of movies, especially horror and comedy films.

Favorite Thing about Cheer/Dance: Cheerleading and Dance keeps your body in top physical shape while having fun with friends and being in a safe enviroment.
Goal for your team: My goal for all teams at CGGC is a personal sense of success. If our teams get last at every competition, just ask yourself if you learned anything, and if you did, thats what our goal should be.

Oliva McAlpine
Position: KinderGym gymnastics coach, Senior Shockwaves Assistant Coach
Gymnastics/Cheerleading Experience: I have been cheerleading for the past nine years and have three years of gymnastics experience, having been trained by Coach Charlotte (McGee) Covington. I began my cheerleading in the youth program in Templeton and then cheered for all four years in high school and was the Varsity Captain. My high school cheer team particpated in UCA and USA Nationals competitions. I was also a member of the 2006-2007 Senior Shockwaves team, and competed in the Northern California Championship in Sacramento and the West Coast Championship at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
Things that qualify you: I am CPR (youth and adult) and first aid certified. I am AACCA certified as well as having three years of gymnastics training.
Favorite hobbies: Food and movies! I love reading and watching movies, especially Disney movies (I love them all!). I like snowboarding and being outdoors. My favorite food would definitely have to be home made Mexican food.
